  • An enchanting harmony of fuchsia, purple, and pink undertones,” Radiant Orchid is set to burst into our interiors as we enter 2014. Pantone’s colour of the year is vibrant and bold and through careful and considered design, radiant orchid can be a valuable colour that will bring energy and freshness to your interior scheme for the New Year.

Purple is a colour that blends well with soft, neutral tones. Lighten up radiant orchid with shades of grey, another shade that’s very on trend for 2014. Blending it with elegant fabrics will also soften the space.

Mixing with metallics will bring out the warmth of the shade, especially the brassy gold tones we are seeing on trend for this year. The dining table and chairs above create a dramatic and glamourous pairing.

For more neutral spaces, adding purple as an accent colour through soft furnishings and accessories is an easy way to introduce it to your interior scheme. Paul Smith’s Dot Bowl Collection for Stelton comes in an array of purple shades that will add a subtle pop of purple.

Introducing artwork is a sophisticated way to bring a purple colour palette into your home and will act as a statement focal point for the room.

As with all of Pantone’s colours of the year, Radiant Orchid is set to stay so why not invest in some statement furniture in this beautiful shade. Baxter’s new Dolly Armchair is the perfect piece to add a touch of purple to a room.

Use the bold colour to glamorous effect by mixing different shades of purple in different patterns on rugs and soft furnishings, to lift the scheme and add interest to the space.

Radiant orchid serves as an elegant backdrop for any interior scheme. Its versatility means it can be tailored to your design style, enriching any colour palette and providing a unifying element to the space. Once again Pantone has chosen a fantastic colour to take us through 2014.
