Edition No.7
AFTER A BUSY FEW WEEKS FILLED WITH CLIENT MEETINGS, SITE VISITS, AND SUPPLIER TRIPS, WE'VE ENJOYED BEING BACK IN THE STUDIO WORKING UP AND DEVELOPING NEW CONCEPTS. WITH OUR NEW TEAM MEMBERS NOW FULLY EMERSED IN ALL THINGS OBS, FRESH PERSPECTIVES HAVE ADDED A NEW ENERGY TO OUR STUDIO MUSINGS. HERE, WE DISCUSS THE LATEST SUBJECTS THAT HAVE GOT US TALKING.
THE TIMELESS ALLURE OF MONTE CARLO
We have always loved the glamour of Monaco, and in recent years, this has only grown, with the famous Formula One circuit attracting well-known Hollywood faces, the hottest fashionistas, and royalty. The pit lane at this year’s Monaco Grand Prix was more like a catwalk, where racing overalls were overshadowed by the latest collections from Dolce & Gabbana and our personal favourite, Chanel. We love this time of year in the Riviera, where this playground comes alive not just with the Grand Prix, but with the Cannes Festival too—providing us with the fashion inspiration we need for our summer wardrobes.

ENTERING A NEW ERA OF SUSTAINABLE SAILING
We were excited to see the launch of Feadship Project 821, the world’s first hydrogen fuel-cell superyacht. Banishing the use of diesel, this innovative approach uses emission-free power from green hydrogen and promises a new era of sustainable sailing. Designed by RWD and with owners representation by Edmiston, the yacht seamlessly combines luxury design with cutting-edge technology to offer sustainable sailing without compromise.
Feadship’s Director and CEO of Royal Van Lent Shipyard, Jan-Bart Verkuyl commented “The aim has been to develop a new, clean technology not just for this project, but for the world,”. As we continue to focus on sourcing more sustainable materials and improving our own impact, we love seeing other luxury sectors not only investing their dedicated resources and efforts into their projects but also leading innovation for the rest of the industry. You can read our Penthouse View interview ‘Next Generation Superyachts’ with Edmiston’s Strategy Director, Alex Holden, where earlier this year we asked Holden about his thoughts on the future of sailing.

SUMMER CALLS FOR STRIPES
As we enter the official month where spring transforms into summer, we are turning our attention back to outdoor spaces and our continuing love of stripes! Reflecting on our country house project last year in Surrey, we are still obsessing over the gorgeous striped sun loungers that provide the ultimate in stylish, poolside comfort. A dominant trend in our new ‘Outdoor spaces’ Pinterest board, you can see some of our favourite stripes, alongside outside spaces that the team admire.

SAVOIR'S FIRST PLANT-BASED BED
Many of us are looking for ways to improve our lifestyle choices, from healthier living to more sustainable options. That’s why we were interested to see that Savior has created their first 'Plant-based bed'. By merging their traditional techniques with the elements of a modern lifestyle, the No4 'The Reformer' contains no synthetic fillings or animal products and is crafted with minimal waste, encouraging an even more saintly sleep.

JESSICA MCCORMACK ANNOUNCES ZOË KRAVITZ AS BRAND AMBASSADOR
As admirers of Jessica McCormack, we were thrilled to hear from their truly inspirational CEO, Leonie Brantberg, earlier this year at Walpole’s ‘Women in Luxury’ event. Leonie spoke about her personal connection to the brand, inspiring us with the value and meaning at the brand’s core. Honouring traditional antique jewellery techniques and exceptional craft, the brand focuses on creating an experience where women can own wearable heirloom-inspired designs to be passed on for generations to come.
Cementing their values, Jessica McCormack’s latest move sees Zoë Kravitz as their first brand ambassador and muse, fostering a genuine connection and demonstrating their commitment to championing female creatives—something we wholeheartedly support. “I genuinely love Jessica and her jewellery. As two female creatives, we have a mutual love and respect for each other’s work." Zoë Kravitz.

At Oliver Burns Studio, fragrance is something that connects us all, whether it is the bespoke scent we carefully create for a project or the familiar aroma of a candle burning in the studio. This shared experience of scent holds extraordinary power because it can unlock deeply personal olfactory memories and transport us back to a place or time. As part of our ongoing monthly theme, ‘Designing for the Senses,’ we’re focusing on scent and its essential role in design, recognising smell as a fundamental sense that shapes the experience of a space. As the fragrance market continues to grow, we turned to one of our favourite brands, August & Piers , to learn more about their personal experiences building the brand and their approach to designing fragrance.
