Designing Beyond Trends | Crafting homes in 2026
AT OLIVER BURNS STUDIO, OUR WORK IS SHAPED BY OUR THOUGHTFUL LUXURY PHILOSOPHY AND REPUTATION OF QUITE INFLUENCE; DEFINED BY DISCRETION, CREATIVITY AND OUR ABILITY TO DELIVER DESIGNS THAT MOVE BOTH HEART AND MIND.
Our interiors are celebrated for their timeless British design. Although not driven by trends, we acknowledge them thoughtfully, crafting homes that remain relevant well beyond today. Here, we share designs that our clients continue to cherish, along with the principles shaping the homes of tomorrow.

CONSIDERED COLOUR
While a neutral palette provides a timeless foundation, our approach to colour is measured and intentional, never dictated by fleeting trends or fashion. Grounded in a deep understanding of each client’s brief and lifestyle, we carefully curate colour palettes that harness the subtle psychological influence of hue and tone. This considered approach ensures that colour enriches the experience of a space, supporting wellbeing, evoking mood, and fostering a sense of calm and connection.

LAYERING DETAILS WITH INTENTION
Layering is essential to creating interiors with depth and substance. It is nota matter of aesthetics but a careful relationship between material, tones, and finishes. Every detail is deliberate; the contrast of leather against embroidery, bronze alongside marble, or soft textiles balanced by structured architectural forms. These considered combinations accumulate to form a cohesive design, one that enriches the space with subtle complexity.

ARCHITECTURAL STATEMENTS
Many of the homes we design are distinguished by their architectural character, from heritage residences to contemporary developments. Increasingly, clients are seeking to enhance or reinterpret defining features such as fireplaces, staircases and double-height spaces. Our role is to ensure these elements are not treated as statements in isolation. As designers, we root the design in a narrative and concept that works seamlessly with these elements, creating a harmonious marriage that feels both effortless and timeless. At the same time, we focus on reconfiguring these spaces to suit the demands of contemporary living.

LIGHT AS SCULPTURAL ART
Lighting, when thoughtfully curated, becomes an integral architectural element. Sculptural pendants such as the Lustre Galatée by Hervé Van der Straeten do more than illuminate a space; they anchor a room and establish balance. We are drawn to works defined by craftsmanship and proportion, where light and shadow are carefully balanced to enrich the atmosphere.

RICHER SPACES
Texture has become fundamental to how a space is experienced. From bas-relief details and textured wallcoverings to hand-applied, artisanal finishes, these surfaces bring a sense of depth, whilst adding warmth and character. They respond beautifully with light, inviting touch and awakening the senses, extending the experience beyond the visual.

SPACES FOR RESTORATION
Wellness has become an integral consideration in the way our clients live. Increasingly, residences are designed to include spaces that encourage rest and restoration, from spa-like bathrooms and serene dressing rooms to meditation studios and seamless connections between the indoors and out. These sanctuaries are shaped to support moments of pause, reflection and renewal within everyday life.

BLENDING OLD AND NEW
Our clients are passionate collectors, custodians of objects with personal and historical significance. We are entrusted with thoughtfully integrating these works into their homes. From inherited heirlooms and collected works of art to furniture sourced over years of travel, these elements bring a richness that cannot be replicated. When carefully considered alongside contemporary design, they create interiors that feel layered and lived-in, where history and modernity sit quietly together.
As 2026 continues to unfold, our focus remains unchanged: designing homes shaped not by fleeting trends, but by timeless values. Creating interiors that feel purposeful and perfectly attuned to contemporary living.
