  • hen it comes to Christmas in the home, everyone loves a beautifully decorated set-up but it doesn’t always need to be an abundance of colour. Keeping it simple and sophisticated with a white colour palette will evoke images of snow topped trees, and glistening frost covered ground that can add just as much Christmas sparkle as a traditional scheme. From decorations to décor, white can provide a harmonising back drop to your interiors and festive displays.

Seasonal themes often start with the tree so opting for a white scheme here is a great place to start. For something more traditional, a snow tipped faux tree will provide the classic pine greenery, hidden underneath a dusty covering of white. For a modern day interpretation the ‘Memory Tree’ by Modern Christmas Trees, is a beautiful contemporary design that is also an eco-friendly and sustainable design choice.

When thinking about decorations, mix crisp whites with clear glass baubles or crystals if you want to keep the palette simple and sparkling. For a more contemporary and quirky find, try Johnathan Adler’s white range of ornaments or Michael Aram’s beautiful silver plated Bethlehem Star, with unrestrained elegance and dreamlike quality that will complement the luxury feel.

White blends seamlessly with metallic and pastels, both of which are key trends for this season. Adding copper, silver or gold decorations will give an extra sparkle, however for a softer contrast use dusty pink tones to create a scheme that glitters in the hues of the moment. Feathers are also high on the trend stakes for this season. Add a subtle decadent edge against your white backdrop by interspersing these beautiful Floating Feather glass baubles throughout your home.

Christmas is also the perfect time to invest in extra seating. To add to your white scheme, the Molly Armchair from Baxter in a soft white fabric, as if covered in snow, allows for texture to take centre stage within this muted colour palette.

Whether your taste is for glitter and sparkles or the more natural beauty of fabrics and furs, white can bring an enchanting dimension to your festive décor. So even if we don’t get the white Christmas we all dream about, evoke the same winter ambiance inside, whatever the weather outside.
