  • ith Santa’s sleigh bells ringing in the distance, it can only mean one thing… Christmas is upon us. Adding those thoughtful festive touches can often be challenging with the sheer choice of Christmas décor available. A few members of Team OB give you their expert advice on creating a thoughtful Christmassy experience which means an even merrier festive season for you and your loved ones. Christmas isn’t quite Christmas without a festive feel on the outside of your home. ‘I like to create the perfect welcome for our guests by dressing our front door with an oversized statement wreath’ explains Joe Burns, Managing Director. ‘Wreaths don’t only have to be limited to the front door and can be used to great effect as a chic window display, table centre pieces or as smaller decorations on the backs of dining chairs for that extra thoughtful touch’.

‘An excellent way to continue the glamour and grandeur of your exterior décor is to use the same design as your wreath to elegantly adorn your fireplace’ reveals Carol, our Senior Architect. ‘To add an additional sensory layer, consider using cinnamon sticks, dried oranges and winter berries alongside natural greens and eucalyptus which are organic in nature and provide a seasonal scent’.

‘Christmas would be incomplete without a perfectly styled Christmas tree. Currently on trend, which I love, are these spectacular crystal tree ornaments by Lux Deco‘ explains Denise from our design team.

The gifts that go beneath the tree are equally important and can provide much of the excitement during the festive season. ‘I love to take the time, love and care to wrap Christmas gifts for friends and family’ says Rebecca, our senior designer. ‘However if you don’t have the time like many of our UHNWI clients, London based Wrapsody offer a bespoke wrapping service to thoughtfully customise your gifts so they look extra special under your tree’.

‘My favourite part of Christmas has to be a beautifully laid out Christmas dining table. Hermes’ china has to be my favourite crockery at the moment’ says Ravi, Sales and Marketing Manager. To add an extra touch of festive fun ‘add a Fortnum & Mason bespoke Christmas cracker to each of your place settings’, adds Alice from the design team.

‘During Christmas, I love my home to be infused with a seasonal scent and twinkling in candle light’ explains Sharon, Marketing Director. ’Simple, beautiful and effective, candles add instant chic, warmth and atmosphere to a room with their fragrant glow. There is a sense of luxury and visual beauty in a candle, especially when grouped with other candles.  I like to cluster different sized candles together with the tallest at the back to create an elegant focal point, or line the porch with different sized pillar candles in hurricane vases or lanterns to create a magical effect on wintry nights.’

‘I love to collect Fornasetti candles, as each one is like a little work of art, managing to combine the visual delight of iconic ceramics with striking fragrances. My favourite for Christmas is the Architettura Candle – hand illustrated with a neoclassical trompe-l’oeil design. It is infused with an incense-like scent that radiates through your home.’
